UN celebrates summit between Trump and Kim
NACIONES UNIDAS.- El secretario general de la ONU, António Guterres, celebró como un “hito importante” la cumbre entre Estados Unidos y Corea del Norte y pidió a todo el mundo apoyo a los acuerdos alcanzados entre los dos países. “Implementar los acuerdos de hoy(martes 12 de junio) y los anteriores, de acuerdo con las resoluciones relevantes del Consejo de Seguridad, requerirá paciencia y apoyo de la co- munidad global”, dijo Guterres a través de su portavoz, Stéphane Dujarric.
El diplomático portugués urgió a todas las partes a “aprovechar esta oportunidad” y reiteró que la ONU está dispuesta a dar pleno apoyo al proceso.
Trump y Kim, reunidos en Singapur, acordaron avanzar hacia la desnuclearización de la península de Corea.
El mandatario estadounidense aseguró que, en respuesta a esta iniciativa, pondrá fin a las maniobras militares en la región, aunque no retirará a las tropas estadounidenses en Corea del Sur ni levantará las sanciones contra el régimen norcoreano “mientras siga habiendo armas nucleares”.

UNITED NATIONS.- The Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, celebrated as an "important milestone" the summit between the United States and North Korea and asked the whole world to support the agreements reached between the two countries.
"Implementing the agreements today (Tuesday, June 12) and the previous ones, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, will require patience and support from the global community," said Guterres through his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric.
The Portuguese diplomat urged all parties to "seize this opportunity" and reiterated that the UN is willing to give full support to the process.
Trump and Kim, meeting in Singapore, agreed to move towards the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
The US president said that, in response to this initiative, he will end military maneuvers in the region, although he will not withdraw US troops in South Korea or lift sanctions against the North Korean regime "as long as nuclear weapons remain."
