Encontrar en Dios el vacío de los tiempos que corren

God fills the void of the despair of the 21st Century

Para celebrar el comienzo de la temporada festiva, La Semana les trae una entrevista distinta, una que alza el corazón a Jesús en tiempos de esperanzas teñidas de cansancio y creencias pisoteadas por el tiempo.

Bernardo Ranjel es pastor de la Iglesia Luterana Sínodo de Missouri, llegó a Estados Unidos hace 23 años oriundo de Nueva León, México, con el mismo sueño que tantos otros inmigrantes, conseguir una vida mejor. Y sólo en la palabra de Dios encontró eso que estaba buscando. “Para los hispanos venir aquí con el sueño americano de repente es un shock , porque llegan y ven que aquí las cosas no son como se las contaron, que lo material no es la respuesta, que la esperanza verdadera esta en el mensaje de cristo Jesús”, aseguró Ranjel.

El pastor recuerda haberse sentido igual que el resto de sus fieles: “Dios me traslado de las tinieblas a su luz admirables”, dijo el pastor aconsejándole a todo el resto de la comunidad dar un paso al frente, sincerarse y abrir sus corazones a dios. “A quienes buscan en las drogas en el alcohol su razón de vivir, eso que buscan ahí, ese vacío en el corazón solo cristo lo puede llenar”, agregó.

La religión parecería se ha vuelto más sencilla y más complicada con el paso del tiempo, el catolicismo perdió terreno ante la oleada de las religiones evangélicas, pero los hispanos en Estados Unidos parecen ser más creyentes que nunca.

“Los medios de comunicación están influyendo bastante para que el mensaje del evangelio sea mas claro, la mayor parte de los católicos son denomínales, no conocen profundamente la doctrina que mueve la iglesia católica. Ahora están comenzando a leer la biblia y se dan cuenta de que muchas cosas que impone el catolicismo no es verdad, al menos en la biblia esas cosas no están”, explicó el pastor.

Sin embargo, a pesar de tener una gran comunidad a quien representar en su iglesia, Ranjel cree que como seres humanos nos está faltando algo. “Creo que a mis fieles les falta tener más compromiso con cristo, uno más serio. A la mayoría si les ofrecen trabajar el domingo se van a ir a trabajar, cuando el domingo es el día para dedicarle a dios para ir a la iglesia”, aseguró sin tapujos.

En tiempos de religión, esperanza y política Ranjel considera que el rol de la iglesia es dar a conocer el mensaje de cristo “para guiarnos en las decisiones diarias de la vida”. “La respuesta no la tiene Estados Unidos, o México, Cristo es la esperanza”, dijo el pastor, sintiéndose decepcionado por cómo los medios hispanos tratan la cuestión de la caravana inmigrante. “La gente tiene que estar clara de que la razón por la que estos inmigrantes vienen de Guatemala, Honduras, el Salvador no es por gusto es por necesidad. Yo no he visto en los canales latinos que traten con la raíz del problema la corrupción en Latinoamérica. Si todos los latinos pudiéramos ver crecer a nuestros hijos en nuestro propio país no tendríamos la necesidad de venir para acá”, dijo Ranjel.

El pastor cree que el único mensaje que puede traer paz y esperanza en los tiempos que corren es el evangelio de dios. “El mundo esta emigrando, los africanos quieren ir a Europa, los asiáticos a Japón o a Australia, las migraciones siempre existieron, las fronteras son nuevas. Por eso si deseamos tener verdadera esperanza hay que creer en dios, porque no importan donde estemos, en que lugar del mundo, si creemos en dios el nos va a cuidar”.

En esta navidad el pastor Ranjel nos recuerda que todos podemos liberarnos de nuestros pecados por medio de Jesús . “Dios no tiene ningún problema en perdonar y salvar a un mentiroso, a un asesino, porque su estándar de perdón es el de dios, para el no hay pecado grande o pequeño, la escala la ponemos nosotros”,

dijo el pastor y agregó: “Todo el que confiesa su pecado y se aparta del pecado, alcanza misericordia”.

Bernardo Ranjel is the preacher of the church “Iglesia Luterana Sínodo de Missouri.” He came to the USA 23 years ago from Nueva León, México with the same dream of the so many immigrants, finding a better life. But it was only in the gospel that he found what he was looking for.

“For the Hispanics, coming to this country puts them in a state of unprecedented shock, because they find that this is not exactly what they thought it was going to be,” said Ranjel, “that material things are not the answer, and that the only true hope lies with God.”

The preacher remembers those days in which he felt lost, like some of the members of his church and so many others new in town.

“God brought me back from darkness and into his bright loving light,” Ranjel said, which is the reason why he believes all humanity must open their hearts to God and confess their sins.

“For all those who find comfort in alcohol, drugs, and crime, remember that the void in your heart you are tying to fill can only be filled by Jesus Christ,” said the preacher.

In the 21st Century religion seems easier but more complicated some times as well. Catholicism has lost ground, competing with the new evangelical doctrines, but Christianity seems to be more vigorous than ever in the USA due to Latin immigration.

“Media has a role in helping clarify the message of the scriptures,” explained the preacher. “Most of the Catholics are not really aware of what the bible says and when they start reading it they find out that they were celebrating traditions that are not rooted in the bible.”

But Ranjel is not really pleased with the way we experience religion in 2018, he believes something is still missing.

“I believe the congregation lacks commitment to God, for instance if they are offered work on a Sunday they decide to do it, neglecting the Lord,” he explained.

In times of politics and the lack of hope Ranjel is convinced that the role of the church is to spread the word of Jesus Christ, so that we can make better decisions.

“The answer it is not the USA or Mexico, the answer is our faith in God,” he insists.

The preacher also believes the media is not portraying the crisis of the Hispanic caravan accurately and feels disappointed in how society judges those in need.

“Those people coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are not coming here out of pleasure, but because they have a real need,” he said. “I haven’t seen the Hispanic media discuss the true causes of this problem, corruption and violence in Latin America. If we Hispanics could raise our children in our own countries we would just stay there.”

The pastor believes the only message that may foster peace and hope in today’s world is the gospel.

“The world is migrating, people in Africa want to move to Europe, and in Asia they want to go to Japan or Australia. Migrations have happened all through history -- they are not new, borders are. That is why we need to put our faith in God because no matter where we are, what country we pledge allegiance to, He will take care of us.”

This Christmas Ranjel wants us to remember that God can set us free from our sins.

“God forgives a sinner, a violent person, a murderer, because he doesn’t believe in scales of forgiveness, that is something humans have invented,” the preacher stated. “All those who confess their sins and leave them behind receive mercy.” (La Semana)
