Sospechoso armado disparó a la policía en Brookside Armed suspect shot by police on Brookside
Brookside fue el escenario de otro oficial involucrado en un tiroteo el martes por la mañana, un incidente que recuerda el fatal tiroteo de Derrec Shaw por parte de un oficial de policía de Tulsa hace dos meses y solo a unas cuadras de distancia. Al igual que en el caso de Shaw, los agentes respondían a un sospechoso masculino que amenazaba a los conductores con un arma.
La policía recibió una alerta alrededor de las 7:00 de la mañana del martes 9 de julio de que un hombre caminaba por la avenida Peoria cerca de la calle 45 con un arma apuntando a los automovilistas. Cuando los agentes llegaron a la escena, le dijeron al sospechoso que dejara caer su pistola y se rindiera, pero en lugar de obedecer, el hombre apuntó su arma a la policía.

Brookside was the scene of another officer involved shooting Tuesday morning, an incident reminiscent of the fatal shooting of Derrec Shaw by a Tulsa Police Officer two months ago and just a few blocks away. As in the Shaw case, officers were responding to a male suspect threatening drivers with a gun.
Police were alerted at around 7:00 Tuesday morning July 9 that a man was walking down Peoria Avenue near 45th street pointing a gun at passing motorists. When officers arrived on the scene they told the suspect to drop his handgun and surrender, but rather than complying, the armed man aimed his gun at the police.
An officer fired two shots at the suspect, striking him once in the torso.
The suspect, later identified as Donald Leroy Berry, 58, was taken to a local hospital. His condition was unknown as of late Tuesday afternoon.
Berry is believed to have mental health issues and was known to officers from other recent incidents.
The name of the officer who shot Berry has not been released. (La Semana)
