Migration will request more information from some people: this is what you should know

-

"Protect the nation from the entry of foreign terrorists to the United States," it is what Donald Trump and his administration seek by hardening the entry measures to the North American country. Following this line, it is not surprising that now the collection of biographical data of travelers and immigrants is strengthened.

With this measure, which is part of the executive order 13780, consular authorities will determine if they allow the access of a citizen of another nationality or they grant you immigration benefits as a permanent residence or a visa of any kind.

The new restriction, drafted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), seeks to collect the data of people who want to enter the US, and based on that information, determine if they are fit to do so.

"This data collection is also used to validate the identity information of an applicant and to determine whether such travel or granting of a (migratory) benefit represents a risk for law enforcement or national security for the United States"explained the US authorities.

It will be the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officers who determine whether "such a trip or concession of a benefit poses a national security risk for the United States. "

Among the data that will evaluate the migratory personnel are: name, sex / gender, date of birth, city / region and country of birth, country / countries of citizenship and country of residence, as well as the "unique numerical identifier issued to a single individual".

With this information they will determine if the candidate has the faculties to enter, for any reason, the United States.

"It is also used internally by CBP, USCIS and detection partners for find, confirm or refute an association between an applicant, the strength of that association, or to provide other information about the person that may be important in the award, "the US government said.

Most of this information can be obtain from the passport / travel document or national identity document, which contain the country and date of issue, as well as expiration date.

In some cases, DHS officers will require other expired documents and passports to obtain necessary profile data, such as: the telephone number (s), email address (es), address in the US, address in the foreign city, name of the US contact point and telephone number of the US contact point.

"DHS plans collect new data items for nine managed programs by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service ", was added in the project that will receive comments from the public in the following days.

This new measure to collect information it is necessary to comply with Section 5 of Executive Order 13780, which is part of the Executive Order Protecting the Nation from the Entry of Foreign Terrorists to the United States, which was signed by Trump on March 8, 2017.

Last May the president of the United States, Donald Trump, presented a new immigration plan in an attempt to convince the public and US lawmakers that the current system needs to be reformed.

The White House has decided to focus on redesign only legal immigration regulations, without addressing the situation of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US or the limbo in which young people called "dreamers" are.

The president explained that his plan seeks to "radical modernization" of the legal immigration process that "is totally dysfunctional." It will be based on the merit of those who want to live in the US. "Our proposal is pro-american, proimmigrant and pro-workers. It will help everyone achieve the American dream," he promised. "We will no longer discriminate against bright, talented immigrants. We want these exceptional students to stay in the US," he added to explain that the proposal will be based on merit.
