Tulsa Library system creatively connecting with customers
TULSA, OK -- In spite of Tulsa City-county Library (TCCL) branches remaining closed, TCCL staff are busy working remotely to develop content and resources for customers, caregivers and teachers in Tulsa County and beyond.
Starting Monday, March 30, TCCL’S Askus service began offering assistance with library information including available resources and services, reference questions and online services via email, text and Im/chat following our regular business hours. Askus telephone service will be actively taking calls beginning Wednesday, April 1.
In addition to reinstating this service for our regular library customers, TCCL staff has been working to plan virtual story times, readers advisory tools and programs for teens and adults
The library has teamed up with RSU TV to broadcast educational library programming on television, and with public radio to promote TCCL’S online services to KWGS listeners.
Library staff members are creating masks to be donated to first responders using TCCL’S 3D printers and sewing machines.
Also, TCCL’S Research Wizard staff is studying the ingredients in hand sanitizer so local businesses can make it to donate to first responders.
The library is collaborating with Tulsa Public Schools for additional education enrichment opportunities for students doing remote learning, is developing
a call-in poetry phone line for April, National Poetry Month, and will partner
with TCCL’S business data provider to provide support for remote users and host online events and webinars for business development.
Alongside all of these efforts, TCCL’S Starbucks and facilities staff donated coffee and food items to the medical staff at Hillcrest Hospital last Friday. TCCL staff keep pushing boundaries on what it means to connect with one another and continue finding personal, professional and educational enrichment during this uncertain time.
