US seeks to attract foreign doctors with visa facilities

he State Department posted a notice on its website asking foreign doctors to apply for a visa, whether immigrant or not, or a certificat­e of eligibilit­y in a intercthem­bio to arrange a meeting on the website of the nearest embassy or consulate to proceed with the process.

On 20 March, the United

States has suspended major services to grant visas at its diplomatic representa­tions around the world and has removed large numbers of personnel due to the epidemic of the new coronaviru­s.

The State Department also pointed out that doctors who are in the country participat­ing in health care programs intercthem­bio educationa­l program, they can discuss with their sponsor the possibilit­y of extending their stay, rememberin­g that it can be extended between one and seven years.

The United States has led the list of countries with the highest number of cases in the new coronaviru­s in the world.

According to the latest data from John Hopkins University, the country has more than 86,000 cases, followed by China with 81,897 and Italy with 80,589.

The State Department announceme­nt comes at a time when health services in some states are on the verge of collapse.

This is the case in New

York, the epicenter of the epidemic in the United States, where hospitals try to respond to the flood of patients and register a lack of equipment.

The new coronaviru­s, responsibl­e for pandemic gives covid-19, already infected about 540,000 people worldwide, of whom nearly 25,000 died.

After appearing in China, in December, the outbreak spread around the world, which led to the World Health Organizati­on (WHO) to declare a pandemic.
