El base de los Lakers de Los Ángeles, Rajon Rondo, sufrió fractura en el pulgar derecho en los entrenamientos del equipo en la “burbuja” de Orlando, el domingo 12 de julio por la noche, anunció el club.

Los Lakers indican que Rondo se someterá esta semana a cirugía para reparar la fractura, y agregan que se espera que el jugador regrese a las actividades completas dentro de seis u ocho semanas.

El equipo de Los Ángeles viajó a Orlando, en Florida, el jueves por la noche para la reanudación de la temporada 2019-20 de la NBA y practicó por primera vez el sábado 11 de julio.

Rondo, que firmó con los Lakers en 2018, se perdió varias semanas durante la temporada 201819 después de someterse a cirugía para reparar un ligamento desgarrado en el dedo anular derecho.

El base tiene de promedio 7,1 puntos, 5 asistencias y 3 rebotes por partido esta temporada, ha aparecido en 48 juegos con los Lakers y fue titular en 3.

os Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo suffered a fractured right thumb during practice at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida on Sunday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Rondo is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks. He’ll leave the bubble to undergo surgery and begin his rehab, according to Mark Medina of USA Today.

The NBA’S season is set to resume on July 30 after more than four months off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lakers currently hold a 49-14 record, the best in the Western Conference. Sunday night’s practice was just their second since arriving in Florida.

The Lakers are already down Avery Bradley, who opted-out of the season due to the coronavirus. They signed JR Smith to replace him through the end of the year.

Rondo averaged 7.1 points and five assists in 20.5 minutes per game off the bench for the Lakers this season, his 14th in the league. He suffered a right hand injury last season, too, and missed several weeks after tearing a ligament in his right ring finger.
