Carlos Aguirre is a well-known restaurateur in Tulsa. Born in Jalisco, this Mexican immigrant seems to be blessed by success, able to fulfill all his goals even in times of Covid-19.

On September 1st Aguirre opened his new “Casa Tequila,” the fourth in his chain of popular Mexican restaurants. The new Casa Tequila is located at 1311 E. Hillside Drive in Broken Arrow and is off to a great start despite social distancing rules.
Like many other immigrants in the United States, for Aguirre everything started with a dream. He wanted to become a restaurant owner and fulfill his own version of the American dream, so badly that eventually he became one of the pioneers of his industry in the Tulsa metropolitan area. Today, Casa Tequila is a complete blockbuster, one of those entrepreneurships that helps the community value the effort of Hispanic immigrants. Still Aguirre is the epitome of humilty, and his story one of hard work, sacrifice and diligence that could only lead to success for the righteous moves of a particular individual that gives careful thought before planning his next move.
“I came to America in 1991 and always dreamed of owning my own restaurant,” he said with pride. “I started washing dishes knowing I needed to learn first.”
Aguirre climbed the pyramid of hard work, doing every single possible task available in a restaurant until becoming his own master. What was his formula? Dedication and constant planning.
“Everything that is made out of love and excellence is blessed by God and that is a great shortcut for success,” Aguirre said.
Some might say that his restaurants are the best for the quality of the margaritas, but Aguirre believes it’s the menu combined with the friendly environment and spotless cleaning that keeps his customers happy.
“We serve everything, meat, chicken, fish, while we try to dispel the idea that all Mexican food is spicy,” he explained. “That is why we always separate the chili.”
Covid-19 delayed the inauguration day of the newest Casa Tequila, but it did not overshadow its promise.
“Thank God the pandemic hasn’t affected us at all. Even if people do not dine in, they order delivery, so the food is still being sold,” he said while greeting new customers.
Many gastronomic businessmen are struggling to improve their sales in these rough times, and for all of them Aguirre offers one piece of advice:
“Plan carefully every single thing you want to achieve, so that it will not be like a gun without any bullets. Do every day and fight every day, because this country offers plenty and if you profit from the opportunities you will prosper.” (La Semana)
