Firstly Demi revealed that she was probably too young to watch it, but that it definitely helped her to understand her own sexuality more.

“It was definitely when I was young and definitely should not have been watching Cruel Intentions but did, and it was that scene where they made out on the park lawn.”

“I was just like, ‘ Oh wait a minute, I really like that, I want to try it.’ And then when I was 17 I did get down with

Demi went on to speak about how this has impacted her music, and that some of her songs are actually about women, not men.

“There were times I wrote songs about girls that my fans thought I wrote about guys. I’m surprised that some of them didn’t figure out that some of the songs were for certain people.”

“I was sharing it with the world, yet I wasn’t being completely obvious with what I was talking about. Music was my safe space.”.”

Earlier this year Demi shared her coming out story. While speaking on Andy Cohen’s Siriusxm show Radio Andy, she opened up about what it was like coming out as bisexual to her parents. After mentioned that she’d like to start a family of her own, whether that be with a man or a woman, Demi said “I’m still figuring it out.” She then went a little further, mentioning “I didn’t officially tell my parents that I saw myself ending up possibly with a woman until 2017.”

Demi continued, “It was actually emotional, but really beautiful. After everything was done, I was like shaking and crying. I just felt overwhelmed. I have such incredible parents. They were so supportive.”
