TPS extends deadline for applications for Tulsa Teacher Corps

TULSA, OK – Tulsa Public Schools has announced that it is extending the deadline for applications for the 2021-2022 Tulsa Teacher Corps. The new deadline for this district-led teacher development program is Thursday, April 15. Tulsa Teacher Corps is a teacher preparation program developed by Tulsa Public Schools to train and place educators in district classrooms. Tulsa Teacher Corps launched in summer 2018 with a group of 75 teachers who participated in a rigorous summer training program and began leading their own classrooms in the fall of 2019. In 2020, the program received state approval to expand its certification pathways to include Special Education. The tuition-free program prepares candidates with the skills they need to successfully lead a classroom. Corp members will receive a stipend. The stipend recognizes the hard work of participating in an intensive teacher training program. The funds can be used to defray summer living expenses or relocation expenses, making the Tulsa Teacher Corps program accessible to more people.

Applications are available on the district’s website at www.tulsaschools.org/tulsateachercorps and are due by Thursday, April 15, 2021. Eligible candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and meet employment requirements for the district. Those who meet all program requirements and demonstrate that they can help lead students to personal, social, and academic success will be prioritized for a teaching job with Tulsa Public Schools.
