¿ Por qué usar la frase “empoderar” a la mujer?

La palabra “empoderar” se ha puesto de moda en estos tiempos.

Sin embargo, al parecer lo que se quiere hacer al utilizarla, es obtener la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres, lograr que se trate a la mujer de manera equitativa en el área laboral, que no haya discriminación y que también pueda obtener el desarrollo profesional en todas las área, como muchas otras cosas más.

Sin embargo no se trata de hablar de lo que se quiere lograr al utilizar esta frase de ”empoderar a la mujer”, más bien de utilizar los términos correctos para que no se conviertan en declaraciones de guerra, que después llegan a mover masas a la pelea. Si definimos esta palabra de “empoderar” habla de dar poder, de dar fuerza, de dar lucha, es un término que en lugar de unir llega a contraponer.

Hay tantas palabras que se pudieran utilizar que pueden llevar a lograr el objetivo, sin tener que crear esa batalla de fuerzas, como por ejemplo, el “dignificar a la mujer” que significa que se le de el mérito a sus acciones, se le respete y se le reconozca. Otra podría ser “enaltecer a la mujer” que significa el resaltar sus cualidades y méritos, darle honor y valor como persona. Y así pudiéramos seguir con muchos términos como ensalzar, honrar, ennoblecer, etc.

Ojalá que no sea una frase que llego para quedarse, en un mundo que necesita unir y no dividir.

Why use the phrase "empower" for women?

The word “empower” has become fashionable these days.

However, apparently what you want to do when using it is to achieve equality between men and women, ensure that women are treated equally in the workplace, that there is no discrimination and that they can also obtain professional development in all areas, like many other things.

However, it is not about talking about what you want to achieve by using this phrase of “empowering women,” rather about using the correct terms so that they do not become declarations of war, which later move masses to fight. If we define this word “empower” it speaks of giving power, of giving strength, of giving struggle. It is a term that instead of uniting, tends to create division.

There are so many words that could be used that can lead to achieving the objective, without having to create that battle of forces, such as “dignifying women,” which means that their actions are given credit, they are respected and recognized. Another could be “exalting the woman” which means highlighting her qualities and merits, giving her honor and value as a person. And so we could continue with many terms such as praise, honor, nobility, etc.

Hopefully it is not a phrase that is here to stay, in a world that needs to unite and not divide.
