Capitanes CDMX debutará en la G League contra Memphis Hustle
Los Capitanes de la Ciudad de México ya conocen el calendario para su esperado estreno en la NBA G League. El primer club establecido en México en participar en una liga profesional estadounidense iniciará su participación el próximo 5 de noviembre, cuando enfrenten a Memphis Hustle (filial de Memphis Grizzlies) en Landers Center a las 7 p.m. (hora local), en el marco de la Showcase Cup.
Las actividades del curso 2021-2022 de la G League comenzarán con la Showcase Cup, una competición que aglutinará a los 30 equipos del circuito, incluidos Capitanes y el G League Ignite (equipo de desarrollo sin afiliación en la NBA, pero patrocinado por la misma liga). Todos los participantes serán divididos en cuatro zonas, en las que jugarán 12 partidos entre sí a formato 'ida y vuelta' y que se celebrarán del 5 de noviembre al 17 de diciembre.
Capitanes fue ubicado en la Conferencia Sur, junto a Memphis Hustle, Lakeland Magic (filial de Orlando), Austin Spurs (filial de San Antonio), Rio Grande Valley Vipers (filial de Houston Rockets) y Birmingham Squadron (filial de New Orleans Pelicans). Los equipos con mejor porcentaje de victorias de cada zona, aunado a los cuatro portadores de las siguientes marcas más prolíficas, avanzarán a la fase final por el título de la Showcase Cup (G League Winter Showcase), que iniciará el próximo 19 de diciembre y finalizará tres días después.
