The Batman's Robert Pattinson Teases Catwoman Surprises for DC Fandome
The Batman star Robert Pattinson is promising 'surprises' involving his Dark Knight and Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle/catwoman during DC Fandome.
Pattinson revealed this information to Variety reporter Angelique Jackson while co-chairing the red carpet premiere party for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. He told Jackson, "Me and Zoë [Kravitz] did some stuff. It’s a fun little thing and there are lots of little surprises for it." Pattinson also confirmed that he has been able to watch completed scenes from the Matt Reeves-directed DC blockbuster. "I’ve seen some of the movie now and it’s kind of really cool," he said. "It’s really cool."
Robert Pattinson was recently granted membership into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He's excited to check out the Academy Museum's movie theater and its exhibition on the works of anime director Hayao Miyazaki, but don't expect any memorabilia from his own movies to show up in the museum any time soon. When asked if there were any such memorabilia he would want to submit to the museum, he told Jackson, "Oh god, I want to keep most [of them], so I can sell them when I’m broke." Prosthetics from Tim Burton's Batman Returns are included in the museum's collection, but it will likely be a while before any props from the upcoming The Batman are even considered. The Batman is the first live-action solo Batman movie since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. It takes place in a separate continuity from the DC Extended Universe, where Ben Affleck has played the role of Batman and will reprise his character alongside Michael Keaton's Batman in 2022's multiverse-crossing The Flash movie. Set early in Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting career, The Batman also stars Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. The dark superhero film will be the first Warner Bros. movie in over a year to be released exclusively in theaters, without a simultaneous HBO Max release. The film premieres on March 4, 2022.
DC Fandome is an online convention showcasing news and previews for the latest DC comics, movies, TV shows and video games. Created to make up for the lack of physical conventions in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the live stream of the first Fandome event was watched by over 22 million people worldwide in 220 countries. The 2021 DC Fandome will be streaming on Oct. 16.
