Local group rewards businesses who abide by masking mandate

LAKE COUNTY >> A group of Lake County citizens led by Jenny Curtiss and Dan Tyrrell, who want to promote the practice of wearing masks, has evolved into an online group of 401 members. ‘(M)asking for a friend’ began on FaceBook in May, with the goal to “‘Make Masks Mandatory’ in all public situations of Lake county, especially in stores and restaurant­s; for employees and customers.”

They support local businesses who are enforcing the mask mandate, which is, according to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), “People in California must wear face coverings when they are in the high-risk situations, i.e.

• Engaged in work, whether at the workplace or performing work off-site, when:

• Interactin­g in-person with any member of the public;
