Lake County Record-Bee

Positivity rate and deaths steadily rising

-

I am a local mobile notary that has received an intimidating and threatening email regarding the alleged unconstitutionality and breaking of the law by following the CDC and health directives requiring masks and social distancing while in public businesses. I am fairly sure this email violates some laws.

I was ready to delete this email until I realized it was sent to other local businesses, as well as sent to a business email I have not used for almost a year. Other business owners got the same email, so I’m pretty sure the sender (email is masked) is local and used local resources to get business names.

Here in Lake County, there is extreme push back from people who refuse to wear masks, and they can be extremely rude about it. One such group is the Konocti Patriots made up of local businesses and patrons. They are rude and loud and will do whatever they can to make sure that the community knows they are against following pandemic health. This, along with the aforementioned email, has many people who wear masks and follow health guidelines feeling fearful to run their business, or to even venture out to do essentials.

Because of the pandemic, as well people who refuse to follow health guidelines, I have not done notary work since February and I rarely go out to do the essentials. Some kind of intervention needs to happen in Lake because our positive rates are steadily rising, as is our death rate. Things are not looking good in our usually lively county and the above issues must be dealt with.
