- Submitted Your MHS Student

Editor’s Note: As part as their final exam, 11th grade students from Hilary Devine’s English class at Middletown High School wrote letters to elementary school students and middle school students encouraging them to do well in school (especially students that are at home in a distance learning situation). The RecordBee will print these letters this week in our community pages.

DEAR 6TH GRADERS >> I hope online school isn’t too difficult for you. As I am taking my High school classes, it really makes me miss being in elementary school. In 6th grade all I wanted to do was grow up. Now that I’m a junior and getting closer to the end of high school, I really wish I had slowed down. As you get older you will appreciate things more and more as you grow. Remember to be kind and don’t let your smile go away. Always ask for help if you need it. You never have to struggle alone, remember that. Thank your teacher for doing such a good job on helping you and others through this difficult time. This virus won’t last forever and you’ll soon be able to see your friends and teachers at school again. Don’t give up, you’re doing amazing! Have a great rest of your year. Sincerely,

Hailey Gambogi

DEAR SIXTH GRADERS >> I know this year is rough for you guys. I’m a high schooler who is also in distance learning. For you guys this is your last year until middle school. I know it’s hard to stay on track and do your work, but you have to give it your all. Middle school isn’t going to be any easier. It’s important to stay caught up on work, you don’t want to get behind and have to catch up. Take it from me-it’s not fun nor easy. But you’ll get through this! I hope your teacher is making this school year as exciting as possible. My teachers are definitely trying their best to make class eventful and entertaining. For the students who still hang out with friends and go out please be safe and rethink it. Our schools are trying to make it safe for us to go back again, but if we’re out here breaking protocol how are we supposed to go back to school? Anyways, I hope you all are safe and having fun at home. Make sure to be safe while out of your house like wearing a mask and social distancing. Cause we want to make it safe so we can go back to school! This year has been tough on all of us, but we will get through this together.

Stay safe,

A high schooler :) DEAR 7TH GRADE STU

DENTS >> I know that this year isn’t what anyone expected and the transition from elementary school to middle school can be hard especially having to do so online. Going from one teacher to having more than one is something to get used to. You’ll get the hang of it. I know it’s hard to be at home being that some students at this age dont have phones to communicate and having a social life can help a lot during school having that communication. My best advice to the 7th grade students is to just remember that soon enough we’ll be back at school and we have made it this far so to just keep trying. Wake up an hour before school to get dressed and eat breakfast. Having a normal routine can sometimes be helpful as well as wake you up. Just put the effort into your assignments and you will do just fine. Take Care,

Makenzie Pina DEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL

ERS>> I understand you’re tired of online school and just want to go back into an actual school and ready for all of this to be over with, but you can’t give up. I’m a junior in high school taking online classes right now and let me tell you just because you cannot be in an actual school does not mean your grades do not matter. When you are in high school and become a graduate all of our grades including yours are going to get looked back on. Colleges and your teachers will be looking back at this year to see if you tried and how good your grades were. Your grades depend a lot on what you do in life. You may not realize it now and I may not realize the full picture yet ,but I have a pretty good idea and I’m telling you, you do not want to give up. I know it’s boring. I hate online school as well but look at the bright side, you don’t have to get dressed for school, you get to stay home and do school work, and you don’t have to deal with the noisy teachers and classmates! Every now and then if you get bored, maybe try reading a new book. Reading is always good for you. I hope you all pass online schooling and become successful people when you’re older! I wish you all the best of luck!

Love,
