City of Lakeport working on local road safety plan
The Lakeport City Council will review traffic safety related complaints during tonight’s City Council Meeting.
This process formally began in June of 2015 with the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC) and reviews developing trends with traffic in the city of Lakeport.
The Lakeport city staff are working on a Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) to address traffic complaints that were brought to the Feb. 16, 2021 council meeting.
These include a crosswalk at Lakeport Blvd., the Bevins and Martin Street intersection, Lakeshore Blvd. Corridor between Giselman and Lange and the North main and North High Street Corridor.
The first step of the LRSP is to secure funding through any Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grants. To accomplish this, the city is working with the Lake Area Planning Council.
In other council business, the city will look to approve and submit an application for funding associated with the Small Community Drought Relief Program.
If the council approves the application, city staff will submit a resolution to get reimbursed for any modifications to the structures that supply water to the surface water plant. A funding of $22,500 has already been approved.
Lakeport City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Regular Council meetings begin at 6 p.m. in the City Council
Chamber, 225 Park Street. The public is invited to attend all Council meetings although meetings have also been streamed during the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information on meetings or to check the minutes of previous meetings, visit https://www.cityoflakeport.com/city_council/index.php
