Baconfest returns to Kelseyville
KELSEYVILLE >>This year, dads in Lake County got the best gift for Father's Day, the return of the 4th annual Baconfest in Kelseyville. After a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, people made their way back to Main Street and enjoyed some beer, wine, and swine. The event sold out a day before it started.
Baconfest drew a huge crowd with over 40 food and retail vendors and featured musical guest Hot Roux. The event also featured magic shows, a “kid corral”, and of course: the bacon competition where chefs from all around the lake competed. Chefs entered a dish to be judged by ticket holders with offerings including bacon jam, bacon sandwiches, and bacon tacos. Wyatt Sells and wife Erica with Sofia's Day Spa served bacon ice cream said, “It has been fun talking to people” and the couple added that they look forward to upcoming events. Jeremy Zable of Red's at the Skyroom brought home first place. Second place went to Sergio Ramos of the Saw Shop Public House and Nicole Gentry, owner of Grillagan's Island, took third place.
The Kelseyville Business Association presents Baconfest every year with help from sponsors and volunteers. Mauro Lopez with the Good Old Boys Motorcycle Club said, “This is our second year helping set up and break down” and added that they are happy to help as they often participate in various community events. Helen Finch, Volunteer Coordinator for Baconfest, shared, “It's great to see so many people out again, and we have a great group of people putting this together — Many thanks to our volunteers and all the people that step up.”
