Resident trades in East Coast for Spanish Palms

Condominium community has pet-friendly amenities

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Michelle Chan spent several years testing lifestyles in various East Coast cities, eventually landing in the Silver State in 2012.

Earlier this year, through the assistance of the Federal Housing Administration financing program, Chan planted her roots and bought her dream home at Spanish Palms, the guard-gated, resort-style condominium community at 5220 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Hacienda Boulevard.

“It took living in a few states to realize that Las Vegas is home sweet home for me,” Chan said. “I have always rented because the thought of owning never appealed to me, especially with the substantial cost of living back East. After living with a few roommates, being married for a little while and a near, but canceled, decision to relocate again, I discovered Spanish Palms. Even after only a month, I am confident I made the right choice and can’t say enough about how much I love being a resident here.”

Chan is a senior analyst at the College of Southern Nevada’s Charleston campus and enjoys a convenient, brief commute from her new home. Some of Spanish Palms’ other selling points include quick access to freeways, lush community landscaping, a sense of security provided by the neighborhood’s gated entry and the perfect floor plan for Chan’s needs.

“I moved into a one-bedroom floor plan and even with my two dogs, I have so much more living space than any home I could ever afford in other cities,” Chan said. “I have a wonderful quality of life, I love the weather and overall feel very content with my decision to purchase here. The management team is committed to residents and everyone is always happy to assist with any maintenance needs and questions.”

Chan’s two dogs, Major and Marley, enjoy walking through the oasis-inspired community and staying active by using Spanish Palms’ dog agility course.

Chan has even made some new friends while walking around with her four-legged companions. She also recently discovered a passion for golfing and was overjoyed with the putting green at Spanish Palms, not to mention its location directly across the street from the Spanish Trail golf community.

“It doesn’t matter where I want to go, it never takes me long to get there,” Chan said. “My favorite sushi place is only a few minutes away, Sprouts grocery store is just down the street and IKEA is a few streetlights from home. Lake Mead is less than an hour’s drive. Everything I need is truly at my fingertips.”

Spanish Palms offers three floor plans ranging between 744 square feet and more than 1,131 square feet, and with homes starting from $131,900.

Spanish Palms signature amenities include Central Park, an expanded fitness center, business center and conference room inside the clubhouse. Spanish Palms offers access to Veterans Affairs and FHA home financing, allowing homebuyers to purchase a home with as little as 3.5 percent down or less. Today, less than 20 percent of its 372 homes are still available for purchase.
