Emerald Homes plans luxury neighborhood in southeast

- By ANN FRIEDMAN

Emerald Homes, a division of DR Horton, has purchased 10 lots near the intersection of East Sunset Road and Tomiyasu Lane near Sunset Park in the southeast portion of the Las Vegas Valley. The lots will be on either side of Marquis Estates, which was built by Blue Heron Properties.

Scott A Harwood, operations manager at Emerald Homes, said the homes will range from 3,650 to 5,100 square feet.

“Floor plans will be one and two-story with the smallest having four bedrooms and 3½ baths,” he said. “They’ll go up to five bedrooms and five baths.”

Harwood added, “Our one-story floor plans are the most popular and a lot of our buyers prefer them.”

Lot sizes will range from nearly a half-acre to .6 acres, Harwood said.

“Emerald is a fairly new division of DR Horton and this was an exclusive community that we chose to build the homes in,” he said. “We’re doing contemporary and transitional styles because it’s a higher-end look.”

Harwood said he expects construction to begin next month and finish in late 2017.

“It’s a premium location and we chose to do a smaller community,” he said. “It’s not a neighborhood where you’d do production homes because of quality of neighbors and existing homes.”

Prices start at just over $1 million and go up to $1.6 million, Harwood said.

Emerald Homes’ next focus is to find another plot of land in the Las Vegas Valley.

“We’re looking at other land in the area but haven’t nailed anything down yet,” he said. “Our focus is finding exclusive established areas for our communities.”
