Blackhawks rally late to beat Toronto in shootout

CHICAGO — The Blackhawks found themselves down two goals late in the third period before capitalizi­ng on two mistakes by Toronto to force overtime and win in a shootout.

Jonathan Toews and Artemi Panarin scored in the shootout to give Chicago a 5-4 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Artem Anisimov scored his second goal of the game on a rebound with 2:28 left to cut it to 4-3, then Richard Panik knocked in a loose puck in front of the goal 60 seconds later.

But Anisimov connected as Blackhawks goalie Scott Darling was heading to the bench for an extra attacker. Darling was on the bench when Panik tied it with his team-leading sixth goal.

Panthers 5, Avalanche 2 — At Sunrise, Fla., Shane Harper scored his first two NHL goals and Florida blew the game open with four goals in the third period. Three of the four goals came in a span of 2:26. Vincent Trocheck and Jonathan Marchessau­lt each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers.

Rangers 4, Capitals 2 — At Washington, rookie Jimmy Vesey scored the tying and go-ahead goals 3 minutes apart in the second period to lead New York to its first road win. Rick Nash scored a late empty-net goal as the Rangers won for the sixth time in eight visits to Washington.

Canadiens 4, Bruins 2 — At Boston, Carey Price stopped 19 shots in his second start, and Brian Gallagher and Phillip Danault each had second-period goals for Montreal, which has not lost in regulation through its first five games. Torrey Mitchell and Paul Byron also scored for the Canadiens.

Predators 5, Penguins 1 — At Nashville, Tenn., Kevin Fiala and Viktor Arvidsson scored two goals each to lead injiury-riddled Nashville to its first win in four games. Juuse Saros stopped 34 shots for his first NHL victory.

Red Wings 3, Sharks 0 — At Detroit, Jimmy Howard made 30 saves and Gustav Nyquist scored twice, helping Detroit win its fourth straight after losing its first two games of the season. San Jose has lost three of four.

Blue Jackets 3, Stars 0 — At Dallas, Sergei Bobrovsky made 32 saves in his 13th career shutout and Columbus won its second game in two nights after losing its first two games of the season.

Lightning 4, Senators 1 — At Ottawa, Ontario, Andrei Vasilevski­y made 27 saves, Vladislav Namestniko­v and Steven Stamkos scored early in the first period and Tampa Bay won its first road game of the season.

Devils 2, Wild 1, OT — At Newark, N.J., Taylor Hall scored 29 seconds into overtime and New Jersey rallied to win at home for the second time in two games. The Devils ended Minnesota’s three-game winning streak.

Flyers 6, Hurricanes 3 — At Philadelph­ia, Jakub Voracek scored twice and Philadelph­ia won for the first time at home this season and snapped a three-game winless streak. Brandon Manning and Matt Read also scored for the Flyers.

Kings 4, Canucks 3, SO — At Los Angeles, Tanner Pearson scored a shootout goal and Los Angeles held on for a victory after allowing Vancouver to come back from a 3-0 deficit.

Blues 6, Flames 4 — At Calgary, Alberta, David Perron scored his first three goals of the season for St. Louis and the Blues snapped a two-game losing streak. Jake Allen made 23 saves for St. Louis.
