Canadiens win 10th straight at home for club-record start

MONTREAL — Andrew Shaw’s best game of the season helped the Montreal Canadiens set a franchise record.

Shaw scored and added two assists to lead the Canadiens to a 5-0 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday to extend their winning streak to four games.

The victory was Montreal’s 10th at the Bell Centre this season, a club record for consecutiv­e home wins to start a season. The previous record was establishe­d in 1953.

Blue Jackets 8, Blues 4 — At Columbus, Ohio, Sam Gagner scored twice, Nick Foligno got a goal and two assists and 13 Blue Jackets had at least a point. Columbus had fans chanting “We want 10!” in the second period, eight days after whipping Montreal 10-1.

Penguins 4, Maple Leafs 1 — At Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust scored in the third period and Pittsburgh won for the seventh time in nine games. Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz also scored for the Penguins and Matt Murray stopped 34 shots.

Sharks 3, Lightning 1 — At Tampa, Fla., Patrick Marleau had a goal that required two video reviews, Martin Jones made 25 saves and San Jose improved to 3-0 midway through a six-game road trip. The Sharks are 11-3-1 against Tampa Bay since 2006.

Bruins 2, Coyotes 1 — At Glendale, Ariz., David Pastrnak got his 10th goal, Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots and won for the ninth straight time against Arizona.

Flyers 3, Wild 2 — At Philadelph­ia, Brayden Schenn scored the tiebreakin­g goal at 8:43 of the third period, helping Philadelph­ia snap a three-game losing skid.

Predators 5, Ducks 0 — At Nashville, Tenn., James Neal scored twice and Pekka Rinne stopped 27 shots for his 41st career shutout as Nashville won its third straight.

Panthers 3, Islanders 2, OT — At Sunrise, Fla., Jonathan Marchessau­lt tied the game with 13.6 seconds left in regulation and Denis Malgin scored late in overtime, helping Florida come all the way back from a 2-0 third period deficit.

Devils 4, Sabres 2 — At Newark, N.J., Nick Lappin and Kyle Palmieri scored in the second period to lead New Jersey to its season-high foruth straght win.

Hurricanes 5, Capitals 1 — At Raleigh, N.C., rookie Sebastian Aho scored his first two NHL goals, Jordan Staal had a goal and three assists and Carolina ended a three-game losing streak. Aho added an assist for the Hurricanes.

Rangers 4, Flames 1 — At Calgary, Alberta, Michael Grabner and Derek Stepan scored in the first period, Henrik Lundqvist stopped 35 shots and New York won for the sixth time in seven games. Jimmy Vesey and Pavel Buchnevich also scored for the Rangers.
