Kansas on cusp of another Big 12 crown

No. 3 Jayhawks tip No. 4 Baylor

WACO, Texas — Landen Lucas made two free throws with 11 seconds left as No. 3 Kansas grabbed a strangleho­ld on the Big 12 race with a 67-65 victory at No. 4 Baylor on Saturday.

The Jayhawks (24-3, 12-2) have a three-game lead in the Big 12 standings over Baylor (22-5, 9-5) with four games to play.

With one more win, Kansas will match the UCLA teams of the 1960s and ’70s by winning its 13th straight conference title.

Frank Mason III scored 23 points and Josh Jackson 16 for the Jayhawks, who closed on an 8-0 run.

Johnathan Motley had 19 points and Manu Lecomte 16 for the Bears, who have lost four of their past six games.

No. 1 Gonzaga 82, Pacific 61 — At Spokane, Wash., Findlay Prep product Nigel Williams-Goss scored 18 points for the Bulldogs (28-0, 16-0 West Coast Conference) in their rout of the Tigers (10-19, 4-12).

No. 2 Villanova 92, Seton Hall 70 — At Newark, N.J., Jalen Brunson scored 22 points for the Wildcats (262, 13-2 Big East), who shot 67 percent to bury the Pirates (16-10, 6-8) and clinch a tie for an unpreceden­ted fourth straight Big East regular-season title.

No. 5 Arizona 76, Washington 68 — At Seattle, Lauri Markkanen scored 26 points and Findlay Prep product Allonzo Trier a season-high 21 for the Wildcats (25-3, 14-1 Pac-12), who held the Huskies (9-18, 2-13) without a field goal for the final 4:41.

No. 6 UCLA 102, Southern California 70— At Los Angeles, Bryce Alford scored 26 points for the Bruins (225, 9-5 Pac-12), who dealt the Trojans (21-6, 8-6) their most decisive loss of the season and stopped a four-game skid against their crosstown rivals.

No. 7 Oregon 101, Colorado 73 — At Eugene, Ore., Findlay Prep product Dillon Brooks scored 23 points for the Ducks (24-4, 13-2 Pac-12), who blitzed the Buffaloes (16-12, 6-9) for their 42nd straight home victory.

No. 8 Louisville 94, Virginia Tech 90 — At Louisville, Ky., Donovan Mitchell scored 26 points for the Cardinals (22-5, 10-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), who shot 51.5 percent and overcame 17 3-pointers by the Hokies (18-8, 7-7).

No. 9 West Virginia 83, Texas Tech 74, 2OT — At Morgantown, W.Va., Jevon Carter scored 24 points for the Mountainee­rs (21-6, 9-5 Big 12), who overcame Keenan Evans’ 28 points to down the Red Raiders (17-10, 5-9).

No. 10 North Carolina 65, No. 14 Virginia 41 — At Chapel Hill, N.C., Justin Jackson scored 20 points for the Tar Heels (23-5, 11-3 ACC), who held the Cavaliers (18-8, 8-6) without a field goal for a 10-minute second-half stretch.

No. 12 Duke 99, Wake Forest 94 — At Durham, N.C., Luke Kennard scored 23 points for the Blue Devils (22-5, 10-4 ACC), who shot 59 percent and hit 13 3-pointers in their seventh straight win. John Collins had 31 points and 15 rebounds for the Demon Deacons (15-12, 6-9).

No. 13 Kentucky 82, Georgia 77 — At Athens, Ga., De’Aaron Fox hit six free throws in the final 45 seconds and totaled 16 points for the Wildcats (22-5, 12-2 Southeaste­rn Conference), who overcame J.J. Frazier’s 36 points to edge the Bulldogs (15-12, 6-8).

No. 15 Florida 57, Mississipp­i State 52— At Starkville, Miss., Chris Chiozza scored 14 points for the Gators (22-5, 12-2 SEC), who toppled the Bulldogs (14-12, 5-9) for their eighth straight victory.

No. 16 Purdue 80, Michigan State 63— At West Lafayette, Ind., Caleb Swanigan had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Boilermake­rs (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten), who routed the Spartans (16-11, 8-6) to take a half-game lead in the conference standings.

Pittsburgh 80, No. 17 Florida State 66 — At Pittsburgh, Sheldon Jeter, who had averaged 7.6 points per game, scored 29 for the Panthers (15-12, 3-10 ACC) in their victory over the Seminoles (21-6, 9-5).

No. 18 Cincinnati 80, Tulsa 60 — At Cincinnati, Jacob Evans III scored 17 points for the Bearcats (24-3, 13-1 American Athletic Conference), who routed the Golden Hurricane (12-14, 6-8) for their 24th straight home win.

No. 19 Southern Methodist 76, Houston 66 — At Houston, Semi Ojeleye scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half for the Mustangs (24-4, 14-1 AAC), who downed the Cougars (188, 9-5) for their ninth straight win.

Vanderbilt 71, No. 21 South Carolina 62— At Nashville, Tenn., Matthew Fisher-Davis scored 17 points for the Commodores (14-13, 7-7 SEC), who topped the Gamecocks (20-7, 10-4) in a game with nine second-half lead changes.

No. 22 Saint Mary’s 70, Brigham Young 57 — At Provo, Utah, Calvin Hermanson scored 17 points for the Gaels (24-3, 14-2 WCC), who held the Cougars (19-10, 10-6) to 39.7-percent shooting.

No. 25 Notre Dame 81, North Carolina State 72 — At Raleigh, N.C., V.J. Beachem hit seven 3-pointers and totaled 27 points for the Fighting Irish (21-7, 10-5 ACC), who dealt the Wolfpack (14-14, 3-12) their seventh straight loss.

Boise State 91, Wyoming 87 — At Boise, Idaho, Paris Austin scored 27 points for the Broncos (17-8, 10-4), who made 9 of 10 free throws in the final 35 seconds to edge the Cowboys (16-12, 6-9).

San Jose State 83, Air Force 78, OT — At San Jose, Calif., Brandon Clarke had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Spartans (14-11, 7-7), who handed the Falcons (10-17, 3-11) their sixth straight loss.
