Flames get Smith, six-season starting goalie, from Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes traded longtime starting goaltender Mike Smith to the Calgary Flames.
Arizona received a conditional 2018 thirdround draft pick, defenseman prospect Brandon Hickey and the rights to pending unrestricted goaltender Chad Johnson.
Smith, 35, an 11-year NHL veteran with three teams, has a 2.70 career goals-against average. The Coyotes’ starter for six seasons, he was 19-26-9 last season with a 2.92 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
Ducks: Center Ryan Kesler, 32, had bone fragments removed from his hip, a procedure that will keep the Selke Trophy finalist away from full hockey activity for 12 weeks.
Devils: New Jersey acquired defenseman Mirco Mueller, 22, and a fifth-round draft pick from San Jose for second- and a fourth-round draft picks.
