About the festival

The Las Vegas Dance in the Desert Festival was founded in 1999 when commercial choreographer Kyla Quintero approached College of Southern Nevada Dance Program director Kelly Roth seeking an outlet for dancers and dance makers from the Strip to express the more “artistic” side of their aspirations. Coincidentally, Roth had been looking for projects to keep his students active during the long summer break, and together the two hatched the festival idea.
