Man in­ter­ven­ing in rob­bery killed by sus­pect’s ve­hi­cle

A man try­ing to in­ter­vene Satur­day in a con­ve­nience store rob­bery was struck and killed by the sus­pect’s get­away ve­hi­cle, North Las Ve­gas po­lice said.

Of­fi­cers re­sponded at about 7 a.m. to the 300 block of West Lake Mead Boule­vard, near Losee Road, for re­ports of a rob­bery.

Po­lice said a wo­man en­tered the store and stole sev­eral items be­fore get­ting into a dark-col­ored Jeep Grand Chero­kee with Cal­i­for­nia li­cense plates. The man who was killed tried to stop her from leav­ing when the Jeep struck him, po­lice spokesman Aaron Patty said.

Ar­riv­ing of­fi­cers found the man in the park­ing lot with crit­i­cal in­juries, po­lice said. He was taken to Univer­sity Med­i­cal Cen­ter’s trauma unit where he died.

The death is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated as a homi­cide, Patty said.
