Man intervenin­g in robbery killed by suspect’s vehicle

A man trying to intervene Saturday in a convenienc­e store robbery was struck and killed by the suspect’s getaway vehicle, North Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded at about 7 a.m. to the 300 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, near Losee Road, for reports of a robbery.

Police said a woman entered the store and stole several items before getting into a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with California license plates. The man who was killed tried to stop her from leaving when the Jeep struck him, police spokesman Aaron Patty said.

Arriving officers found the man in the parking lot with critical injuries, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit where he died.

The death is being investigat­ed as a homicide, Patty said.
