Rams activate Donald before Redskins game

-

Aaron Donald is set to play his first game since ending his holdout from the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams moved Donald from the exempt list to the active roster Saturday, clearing the way for the All-Pro defensive lineman to start Sunday against Washington.

Donald returned to the Rams one week ago, ending his four-month holdout after failing to get a new deal. He is under contract through 2018. Donald didn’t miss a game while making the Pro Bowl in each of his first three NFL seasons. He didn’t play in the Rams’ 46-9 victory over Indianapolis last Sunday.

Los Angeles (1-0) also signed cornerback Kevin Peterson from the practice squad to the active roster and waived offensive lineman Aaron Neary.

■ Giants: The question of the day at New York Giants practice Saturday remained: Will Odell Beckham, Jr. play Monday night against the Detroit Lions?

The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver is hobbled by a high ankle sprain suffered in the second preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. He missed last Sunday’s 19-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and was questionable on the team’s injury report Saturday. His participation in the light practice session was once again limited, like it was all week.

■ Chiefs: Kansas City again released veteran C.J. Spiller, clearing room on the roster to promote fellow running back Akeem Hunt before Sunday’s home opener against Philadelphia.

Spiller signed with the Chiefs in the offseason in an attempt to resurrect his career, which had been derailed by injuries. He looked good in training camp and the preseason but was released as part of final roster cutdowns on Sept. 2.

■ Vikings: With starting quarterback Sam Bradford listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with a knee injury, Minnesota signed quarterback Kyle Sloter from their practice squad.

Bradford played one of the best games of his career in a seasonopening victory over New Orleans on Monday night. But he was limited in practice this week after coming out of the game with an injured left knee.
