No. 7 Michigan 29, Air Force 13 —

At Ann Arbor, Mich., Donovan Peoples-Jones returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, giving the Wolverines (3-0) their first lead of more than three points, and Quinn Nordin tied a Michigan record with five field goals. Arion Worthman ran for 60 yards and threw a 64-yard TD pass for the Falcons (1-1).

No. 10 Wisconsin 40, Brigham Young 6 —

At Provo, Utah, Alex Hornibrook was 18 of 19 passing for 256 yards and four touchdowns for the Badgers (3-0), who led 24-6 at halftime. The Cougars (1-3), who didn’t force a punt until the third quarter, were outgained 491-192 in yards of offense.

Northern Illinois 21, Nebraska 17 —

At Lincoln, Neb., cornerback Shawun Lurry and safety Jawuan Johnson had first-quarter intercepti­on returns for touchdowns from 87 and 25 yards for the Huskies (2-1), who are 4-1 against Big Ten teams under coach Rod Carey. The Cornhusker­s (1-2) were held scoreless in the first half at home for the first time since 2007.

Iowa 31, North Texas 14—

At Iowa City, Iowa, freshman Ivory Kelly-Martin ran for 74 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawkeyes (3-0), who lost fellow running backs Akrum Wadley (right leg) and James Butler (right elbow) to injuries. Mason Fine threw for 167 yards for the Mean Green (1-2).

Minnesota 34, Middle Tennessee State 3 — At

Minneapoli­s, Kobe McCrary ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns for the Golden Gophers (3-0), who wore all gold for the first time since 1974. John Urzua threw two intercepti­ons for the Blue Raiders (1-2), and safety Jacob Huff returned one 67 yards for a TD.

No. 5 Penn State 56, Georgia State 0 —

At State College, Pa., Trace McSorley threw a Beaver Stadiumrec­ord 85-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley for one of his four scoring strikes and also ran for a TD for the Nittany Lions (3-0). Conner Manning threw three intercepti­ons for the Panthers (0-2).

No. 8 Ohio State 38, Army 7 —

At Columbus, Ohio, freshman J.K. Dobbins ran for 172 yards and two touchdowns, and J.T. Barrett threw for 270 yards and two scores for the Buckeyes (2-1). The Black Knights (2-1), who totaled 278 yards of offense, didn’t score in the second half.

Northweste­rn 49, Bowling Green 7 —

At Evanston, Ill., Clayton Thorson threw for 370 yards and two touchdowns, and Justin Jackson ran for 121 yards and three TDs for the Wildcats (21). Josh Cleveland ran 20 yards for a first-quarter score for the Falcons (0-3).

Rutgers 65, Morgan Stat e0— At Piscataway, N.J., freshman quarterbac­k Johnathan Lewis ran for four touchdowns and threw for another in part-time action for the Scarlet Knights (1-2), who halted an 11-game slide. The Bears (0-3) mustered 145 yards of offense.
