PAUL SCOFIELD

-

Paul Norman Scofield passed away unexpectedly September 15, 2017, of an aortic dissection. He was admitted to St. Rose September 14. This was, and is, a shock to all. He was born January 5, 1958, in San Francisco, California, at St. Luke’s Hospital. From there, he lived in Boise, Idaho, and then at the age of 10 he moved to Salem, Oregon. He attended Faye Wright Elementary, Judson Middle School and graduated from Sprague High School in 1976. He started work as a dessert chef at Chelsea’s restaurant in Salem, and worked his way up to managing multiple locations before going to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1989. He started his career as a Cook Foreman at FCI Sheridan and was part of the very first Tactical Response Team. In January 1992, Paul transferred to Aurora, Colorado, as a training instructor at MSTC. In December 1992, he was promoted to assistant administrator at FCI Florence during its activation. Over the next 16 years, he was administrator of each facility, as well as complex administrator. He took his final post in Kansas City as regional food administrator in 2010 and retired from the Bureau in December 2014 with 25 years of service. Paul grew up in and was confirmed at Good Shepard Lutheran Church. His faith was a quiet strength in his life, always finding a church home no matter where he lived. Paul and his wife, Wendy Scofield, lived in Henderson. Paul had many hobbies and interests including restoring cars and specifically British race cars. He was an avid predator hunter and played golf weekly. Paul’s father, Bob, preceded him in death and will meet him at the gates of Heaven. Paul is survived by his wife, Wendy Scofield of Henderson, Nevada; mother, Shirley Scofield of Salem, Oregon; his siblings, sister, Debbie Sund (Brian Sund) of Salem, Oregon, and brother, Eric Scofield (Marni Scofield) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Paul was the father of, and is survived by, Bobbie Scofield (32) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Denman Scofield (30) of Denver, Colorado. Paul was grandpa to three, Sophia, Benton and Maebe of Colorado Springs, Colorado. What a blessing to have had an amazing week with them at his home this summer! Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14, at Christ the Servant Church, 2 S. Pecos Road, Henderson, NV 89074. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Young Life, Advancement Fund #9147, P.O. Box 520, Colorado Springs, CO 80901-0520. Paul was generous to others, as this will be as well.
