Howard J. "Chris"Christenso­n, 96, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on September 12. He was born in Minot, North Dakota on August 24, 1921. Chris served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as a meteorolog­ist and after leaving the service he worked for Pan American Airlines for a short time in that same capacity. In 1950 Chris joined the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company where he worked for 32 years, ultimately rising to the position of National Sales Manager of all automotive services for Firestone dealers and stores. He retired in 1982 and moved with his wife Virginia to Hollister, California where they lived for 15 years before moving to Henderson in 1997. Chris loved dancing, basketball, playing golf and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 69 years; son Glenn Christenso­n of Henderson, Nevada; four grandchild­ren and five great grandchild­ren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela (Christenso­n) Zajdel of Castro Valley, California. Funeral services will be held at Green Valley Presbyteri­an Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, Nevada 89074 at 1 PM on Monday, October 9. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Nevada State College, Attn: Erin Keller, 1300 Nevada State Dr., Henderson, Nevada 89002 or to the Green Valley Presbyteri­an Church.
