IRMA MORRIS
Irma “Moma” Morris, a 17-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 17, 2017 from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. Born June 6, 1930 to Ruby and Lawrence Putman, she grew up in Eureka Springs, Ark. where she met and married the love of her life, Donald, who preceded her in death. Besides raising two children, Moma worked for the Torrance United School District in Torrance, Calif. for over 20 years as a teachers’ aide, touching many young impressionable children’s lives along the way. She was an outstanding artist. Her oil paintings adorn homes of all family members and numerous others from her frequent weekend art shows over many years. Her family and dog, Peanut, were the most important parts of her life; she would drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles at least once a month well after she turned 80 years old, Peanut sitting right next to her in the passenger seat. She never missed a game or recital of her children or grandchildren. She is survived by both her children, Dr. Gary Morris of Las Vegas and Lori Teafatiller of Lakewood, Calif. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Ashley, Konnor, Amy, Kelley and Haley; and two greatgrandchildren. Moma will be missed by all those who have known her. Services will be in Palos Verdes, Calif. where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Don. In lieu of flowers, consider occasional random acts of kindness to make someone’s day. Moma would certainly smile at that!
