JOSEPH B MCCAFFREY

Joseph Bernard McCaffrey, 78, passed away peacefully from a long illness surrounded by loving family on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 at 9:35 am at St. Rose Dominican Hospital.

Joseph was born on January 23rd, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to Bernard and Madeline, the fourth of twelve siblings. He served in the army from 1957 to 1960, stationed at the 98th General Hospital in Neubrucke, Germany. He married his beloved wife Sebastiana Roma Catalfano in Avenel, NJ on February 16th, 1963. He had said many times that in marrying Sebastiana, "Tina,"he married his best friend. He and Tina owned and operated J&S Children's Shoes in Livingston, New Jersey from 1972 to 2012. Joe and Tina moved to Las Vegas in 2012 to be with family. Joseph is survived by his wife Sebastiana; his three loving children, Mary, Kathleen, and Michael; and eight grandchildren, Joseph, Danielle, Michael, Matthew, Michael, Owen, Charles, and Allison.

He will be remembered as a great athlete, card player, and chess player. He was known to many as "Joe the Fourth,"because if you ever needed a fourth player for tennis, golf, or bridge, he was your man. Above all Joe will be remembered as a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Family, friends, and others whose lives Joseph touched are invited to St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Henderson on Friday, September 22nd at 10:30 am with a reception to follow at Seven Hills Conference Center in Henderson. In lieu of flowers, Joseph's loved ones request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
