Men’s golf finishes fourth in New Mexico tournament
No. 12 UNLV shot a final-round 16-over Saturday and finished fourth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which was played at the University of New Mexico Championship South Course (par 72, 7,555 yards).
Individually, Arizona’s George Cunningham earned medalist honors by three shots at 8-under 208 after a finalround 3-under 69.
The Rebels were led by senior Shintaro Ban and junior Harry Hall, who both recorded top-10 individual finishes. Ban tied for seventh at even par, while Hall finished 10th at 2-over.
UNLV sophomore Justin Kim led the team in birdies during the final round with three.
■ Volleyball: At Fort Collins, Colo., UNLV (4-11, 0-2 Mountain West) was swept 3-0 by No. 23 Colorado State (122, 2-0), losing by sets scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-8.
■ Women’s Cross Country: At Craig Ranch Regional Park, UNLV finished third at the five-team UNLV Invitational at Craig Ranch Regional Park with 84 points, behind meet champion Utah Valley (18) and second-place Long Beach State (73).
■ Men’s Tennis: At Malibu, Calif., UNLV Alexandr Cozbinov lost to Christofer Goncalves of New Mexico State 7-6, 0-6, 7-6 in the second round of consolation play at the Oracle ITA Masters.
■ Women’s Tennis: Three UNLV singles players and two doubles teams will play for their respective flights’ titles Sunday after Day Two of the
Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
