Purdue 10 — At West Lafayette, Ind., Chris Evans ran for 97 yards and two second-half touchdowns for the Wolverines (4-0, 1-0), who overcame an undisclosed first-quarter injury to quarterback Wilton Speight. Backup John O’Korn threw for 270 yards and a touchdown. The Boilermakers (2-2, 0-1) rewarded their first sellout crowd in nine years with a 10-7 intermission lead — but mustered only 10 yard of offense in the second half.
■ Notre Dame 38, Michigan State 18 — At East Lansing, Mich., Brandon Wimbush threw for a touchdown and ran for one, and Dexter Williams caught a TD pass and ran for a score for the Fighting Irish (3-1). The Spartans (2-1) went the entire game without a lead, the first time that has happened in more than five years, and they entered having not allowed an offensive touchdown this season.
■ Nebraska 27, Rutgers 17— At Lincoln, Neb., Tanner Lee led the Cornhuskers (2-2, 1-0) on a 97-yard go-ahead scoring drive after safety Kiy Hester put the Scarlet Knights (1-3, 0-1) ahead 17-14 with a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown. Rutgers hadn’t led in a Big Ten game in 13 quarters since November. Devine Ozigbo ran for 101 yards for Nebraska.
■ Central Florida 38,
Maryland 10 — At College Park, Md., Taj McGowan scored two touchdowns for the Knights (2-0), who capitalized on an early injury to Terrapins quarterback Kasim Hill. Backup Max Bortenschlager threw two interceptions for Maryland (21), one that cornerback Mike Hughes returned 57 yards for a TD, and was sacked five times.
■ Indiana 52, Georgia
Southern 17 — At Bloomington, Ind., freshman Morgan Ellison ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in his first start for the Hoosiers (2-1), and J-Shun Harris returned a punt 70 yards for a TD. L.A. Ramsby ran for 108 yards for the Eagles (0-3), who have been outscored 115-36 this season.
