DR. KATAYOUN "KATY" BARIN

-

Dr. Katayoun "Katy" Barin peacefully returned to the loving arms of her eternal love and soulmate, Dr. Kayvan Taghipour Khiabani, in the early morning of October 12, 2017. She was born in 1969, the daughter of Parvin and Dr. Habib Barin, in Iran. Her childhood was spent in England and France. She later immigrated with her family to Canada, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in anatomical science from McGill University, where she later received a degree in Dentistry. At McGill, Katy met the love of her life, Kayvan. From their loving union came Aria (16) and Keon (14), in whom Katy sought to instill, until the very last moments of her life, the values of generosity, benevolence and excellence. An avid traveler, an excellent cook and a passionate runner, her love and laughter filled many hearts with the incredible joy she felt for life. Her contagious laugh, her radiant smile and her love for life left an indelible mark on all those that she met. Katy led a life of great serenity, determination, grace and courage, which she demonstrated until the very end of her life. Her spirit is forever imprinted in her sons; her adoring parents; and her two brothers, Babak and Siamak Barin; as well as in all of her family members and many friends. Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at St. John the Baptiste Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road, Las Vegas, NV 89118. Her body will be laid to rest in Montreal, Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USC Norris Center in Dr. Barin’s memory, University of Southern California.
