DR. RICHARD "ZMAN" ZIEBARTH

Dr. Richard “Zman” Ziebarth, whose only passion greater than his love and service to his country and his love and devotion to his family was his love for Christ, was called home to Heaven Oct. 10, 2017. He was 58. Zman was born Feb. 12, 1959, in St. James, Minn., to Ellis and Bonnie (Haynes) Ziebarth. At 10, he and his family moved to Upland, Calif., and he graduated from Upland High School in 1977. He then graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1981 with a Bachelor’s in computer science and business. A week later, he married Beth Ann Hofferth, who became his lifelong best friend and wife, of 36 years. Zman spent nearly 26 years as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and squadron commander, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. His career led him to assignment­s all over the world, including South Korea, England, and the Pentagon. He was assigned to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas in 2003 and retired from the military in 2007. A week later he took a job as director of operations at North Las Vegasbased Remote Imagery Technology Inc. (RITI). After earning both an MBA (Averett College) and a Doctorate of Strategic Leadership (Regent University), Zman started a business called Integrity Leadership that helped employers determine the best fit for employees within their companies. He was also an active member of Canyon Ridge Christian Church, and chairman of the church’s board of elders at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his father in 2015. Zman is survived by his wife, Beth; his daughter, Charity (Michael) Hartshorn of Dublin, Calif.; his son, Daniel; his mother, Bonnie Ziebarth of Upland, Calif.; his in-laws, Lee and Barbara Hofferth of Sun City, Ariz.; his sister, Dr. Robin (Stephen) Leonard of Upland; his brother-in-law, John (Cherie) Hofferth of Glendale, Ariz.; his nephews, Trent, Troy and Matthew; and his nieces, Tabitha and Megan. Celebratio­n of Zman’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road, in Las Vegas. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Ziebarth Memorial Fund (via GoFundMe)
