No. 19 Michigan 13 — At State College, Pa., Saquon Barkley totaled 161 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns, including a direct snap that he took 69 yards for a score on the second play, and Trace McSorley also scored three TDs for the Nittany Lions (7-0, 4-0), who haven’t lost since getting trounced 49-10 by the Wolverines (5-2, 2-2) last season. Michigan came in allowing 223 yards per game and 3.68 yards per play. Penn State went for 506 yards at 8.3 per play. ■ No. 5 Wisconsin 38, Maryland 13 — At Madison, Wis., Jonathan Taylor ran for 126 yards and a touchdown for the Badgers (7-0, 4-0), tying a major college record shared by five other backs for fewest games by a freshman to run for 1,000 yards. Alex Hornibrook passed for 225 yards and two TDs for Wisconsin, which allowed the Terrapins (3-4, 1-3) to run for 143 yards after having allowed a league-low average of 78.8 yards rushing per game. ■ No. 18 Michigan State 17,

Indiana 9 — At East Lansing, Mich., Brian Lewerke threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Felton Davis with 5:59 left for the Spartans (6-1, 4-0), who tacked on a TD on L.J. Scott’s 18-yard run with 1:49 to go. Griffin Oakes kicked three field goals, the last of which put the Hoosiers (3-4, 0-4) up 9-3 with 12:29 remaining. Michigan State held a 274-253 edge in yards of offense.

■ Rutgers 14, Purdue 12

— At Piscataway, N.J., Gus Edwards scored on a 74-yard run on the second offensive play for the Scarlet Knights (3-4, 2-2), who notched consecutiv­e Big Ten wins for the first time since joining the league in 2014. Rutgers held the Boilermake­rs (3-4, 1-3) to 4-for-19 on third and fourth downs and stopped a 2-point

conversion attempt after Anthony Mahoungou’s onehanded 10-yard touchdown catch with 25 seconds left. ■ Minnesota 24, Illinois 17— At Minneapoli­s, Kobe McCrary ran for 153 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Rodney Smith added 103 yards rushing for the Golden Gophers (4-3, 1-3), who ran for 292 yards and held the Illini (2-5, 0-4) to 282 yards of offense. Linebacker Jon Celestin returned a fourthquar­ter intercepti­on 31 yards for a Minnesota touchdown. ■ Northweste­rn 17, Iowa

10, OT — At Evanston, Ill., Justin Jackson broke three tackles on a 23-yard reception to the 1 in overtime, and Clayton Thorson scored from there for the Wildcats (4-3, 2-2), who held the Hawkeyes (4-3, 1-3) to 7 yards on their drive in the extra session. Jackson ran for 93 yards, moving to eighth in Big Ten career rushing with 4,732 yards. Akrum Wadley ran for 90 yards for Iowa.
