Boxer Beibut Shumenov lists home for $5.3M
The 9,469-square-foot residence has gym, hyperbaric chamber
FORMER professional boxer and two-division world champion Beibut Shumenov is ready to begin his next challenge.
Retiring from boxing this past spring due to an injury, Shumenov has listed his luxurious Lakes Estates at 2812 Coast Line Court for $5.3 million.
“I am moving on to the next chapter of my life,” said Shumenov, who is originally from Kazakhstan. He plans to stay in Las Vegas following the sale.
“I’m probably going to build a new home to go along with this,” he said.
The 9,469-square-foot home is nestled along the shore of the exclusive community’s private 30-acre Sahara Lake. Sited on .38 of an acre, the 16,553 square feet of premier lakefront acreage provides lake views from multiple vantage points. This unique location offers recreational amenities, such as boat-
ing, fishing and viewing the lake’s wildlife including geese, ducks and freshwater turtles.
“What truly sold me on the home compared to all the other homes that I had looked at was the lake,” Shumenov said. “There is no other community like the Lakes Estates. To live on the lake in literally the desert of Las Vegas is truly unique and oneof-a-kind experience.”
Listed with John and Leslie Carver, Team Carver with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, the couple purchased the home in February 2012. According to the Clark County Assessor’s records, there have been three previous owners of the property.
The three-level home features a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, indoor gym, six ensuite bedrooms, nine baths, an executive den, eight-seat movie theater, wine cellar, elevator, exterior pool, floating spa and water slide.
“Anyone that wants a relaxing lifestyle,” John Carver said of who would make a good buyer. “It’s not your typical Las Vegas-style home. It’s very unique.”
Cary Redlin is the vice president of KZ Event Productions, Shumenov’s promotional company. She said he invested more than $1 million in interior and exterior renovations and electronics. These renovations include installing hand-scraped wood flooring, extensive interior painting, new molding and interior doors, cabinetry, lighting and remodeling two bedrooms and baths to convert them to additional ensuite guest rooms. All the bedrooms in the home offer spacious walk-in closets and private baths.
“It changed the feel of it,” Leslie Carver said about the renovations. “When they purchased the home it was very dark. Now it’s bright and gorgeous.”
Shumenov’s commitment to boxing is reflected throughout the home, such as its $35,000 Quamvis 320 portable hyperbaric oxygen chamber, complete with a 220-volt compressor and pump.
The chamber is in the center of one of the master suite’s two walk-in closets. Purchased prior to the new home, the chamber was discovered by Shumenov in a local physician’s office.
“When training for a fight, I used it almost every day for quicker recovery,” Shumenov said. “I found it helped to speed up the relief of any aches or pains that I had throughout my body.”
According to Shumenov, the benefits he received from using the chamber led him to purchase one for his parents, shipping it overseas to Kazakhstan in 2012.
“There are benefits far beyond just for professional athletes,” Shumenov said. “That is why I purchased one
for my parents. I want them to live a long and healthy life, too.”
The home’s lower-level gym features professional-grade workout equipment, including a Title Platinum Pro Heavy bag stand, 300-pound Pro Heavy bag; Keiser Functional trainer machine; Gold’s Gym Airstride treadmill; free-motion, dual-cable cross machine; free weights; and fitness and kettle balls. The equipment was purchased over a four-year span, beginning in 2012. Shumenov said he used the gym up to six days a week when training for a fight.
The gym equipment and hyperbaric chamber are valued at more than $175,000 and come with the price of the home, according to Leslie Carver.
In addition to its fitness and recreational amenities, the home’s architectural design and flow provide its residents a lavish retreat.
The entry begins with a stately point of arrival, thanks to the cobblestone path and driveway.
Its massive 10-foot wood door opens to reveal a grand foyer showcasing a custom iron staircase, intricate wood work, a natural stone wall, arched door frames and handscraped wood floors leading into the sprawling main living area. The home’s Old World feel is enhanced by custom iron lighting, including a large chandelier hanging above the entry.
Rich dark brown wood beams highlight the 23-foot ceiling of the warm, inviting family room. Eight feet of glass pocket doors allow the expansive, open floor plan to flow outside, revealing stunning lake views from one of the home’s three exterior patios. A natural stone hearth rises above the gas fireplace and meeting the ceiling to create a dramatic focal point for the family room.
The gourmet kitchen’s open access from the family room provides a harmonious space for entertaining.
Clad in premium finishes and dual professional-grade appliances, the kitchen was designed with entertainment in mind. The stove top features a wok burner, grill and pot filler.
Its granite counters complement the dark wood cabinetry as an arched stone wall separates the family room from the kitchen and provides an architectural focal point.
A separate butler’s pantry behind the main kitchen offers additional prepping space and professional appliances, including a double oven and another dishwasher, as well as walls of built-in cabinetry.
Next to the pantry, is an elegant, formal dining room, replete with a large picture window showcasing exquisite views of the lake. An arched, stone ceiling draped with two large custom iron chandeliers and a gas fireplace with a natural stone hearth continue the home’s Old World appeal.
The upper level is accessed by ascending the 6-foot wide staircase or elevator. This level features an expansive master suite, two of the five ensuite bedrooms and the executive office.
The master features a rich, dark, wood ceiling and hard wood flooring, highlighted with a luxurious chandelier. A large bank of doors reveal an upper balcony with views of the lake.
The master bath emulates a spalike resort with a stone trimmed oval soaking tub with overflow and an 11-jet and steamer natural stone shower.
Back on the lower level, a large flex space, wine cellar and a private eight-seat movie theater, featuring surround sound and a full bar. Watching movies played a significant role in Shuemnov’s life.
According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, Shumenov’s boxing career was sparked by watching a film of a Mike Tyson fight and, according to Redlin, Shumenov watched movies to help overcome his language barrier after coming to the United States in 2007.
“He learned English from watching movies,” Redlin said of Shumenov, who taught himself the language. “He knows movies more than me. He loves the ‘Godfather.’ ”
The home’s 1,534-square-foot, climate-controlled, three-car garage is accessed through a separate electric gated driveway. An additional larger one-car garage is available on the other side of the home. The attention to detail found throughout the home continues with the finish on the walls of the garage that are the same as the home’s interior, expansive, wood garage doors and epoxy floor.
The home’s additional amenities include seven air-conditioning units, outdoor basketball court, accent lighting with authentic gas lamps, intercom system, central vacuum and integrated sound system. A Creston home system controls all the functions of the home, including security, sound, theater and media.
The exterior’s lush manicured grounds, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, private boat dock, large pool, raised spa and concrete water slide create an exterior resort feel. Shumenov’s 18CS Electracraft pontoon-style 48volt boat can be negotiated on top of the sales price.
Lakes Estates has 41 custom home sites in close proximity to the Strip. Amenities for the community include mature landscaping, gate security, tennis courts and the lake that offers boating and fishing. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and razorback sucker fish.
Shumenov, who earned a law degree in Kazakhstan, represented Kazakhstan in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He came to Las Vegas from Kazakhstan in 2007 to turn professional, based on advice given him by his former Olympic coach. His pro career was historic as he earned world titles in two divisions. During his career, he was his own promoter, owning his own promotional company, KZ Event Productions. According to Redlin, he was the first foreigner to get a promoter’s license in Nevada.
“I am contemplating my next career move and the next chapter of my life,” Shumenov said. “Several opportunities, in not only the boxing world but also in the legal, international business and political world, have been presented to me. I am very excited for what the future holds for not only me but my whole family.”
