LAURA CARPENTER
Laura Beth Carpenter (Harlin), passed away October 18, 2017, at age 68, in the presence of her family, after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 16, 1949, in Littlefield, Texas, to Melvin and LaNelle Harlin. Laura truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, spending time with her grandkids, reading, baking and doting on her cats, Fatso and Iddie. Laura was involved in many local charities, always assisting and lending a hand to the less fortunate, especially during the holidays. Laura was a student of life and took up many different careers, including long-haul trucking, as well as attaining her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1995. She was most known for her lawn maintenance company, Quality Lawn Care, where she cherished her relationships with clients, who over the years became friends. The family relocated to Las Vegas in 1962, where she graduated from Western High School in 1967. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Harlin; mother, LaNelle Furrh Harlin; and brother, Mitch Harlin. Laura is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Timothy and Joseph Carpenter; brothers, David and Marty Harlin; sister, Barbara DiPaolo; daughter-in-law, Susan Crosbie; sisters-in-law, Debbie and JoAnn Harlin; grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Casey, Christopher and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Devyn, Mason and Baylee; several nieces and nephews; and Martine Peña, his wife, and their children, whom she considered family, all of whom brought her great joy throughout the years. Celebration of life will be noon-4 p.m. Sunday, November 19, at Southern Terrace Clubhouse, 9750 W. Oquendo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89148. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shade Tree or the Community Cat Coalition of Clark County.
