Water warning
SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Officials have warned a small number of people to refrain from drinking or cooking with tap water because the water system was damaged by the recent Northern California wildfires.
Santa Rosa issued the warning Friday to 13 homes in the Fountain Grove neighborhood, which was hit hard by last month’s fires.
The city said contaminants were found in the water in the areas of the 13 homes. The city did not say when the warning might be lifted.
Also Friday, the suspension of burn permits that has been in effect since the fires was finally lifted in most areas.
A statement from state fire officials said people with residential or agricultural burn permits can now resume burning in six counties: Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Solano, Yolo and Colusa.
