Patriots vs. spread: 12-6 overall, 1-1 in the postseason. New England had been on a 10-1 roll until the Jaguars covered a 7½-point line in the Patriots’ 24-20 win in the AFC title game.

History lesson: The Patriots beat the Eagles 24-21 in Super Bowl XXIX in Jacksonvil­le, Florida, after the 2004 season. Their most recent meeting was in 2015 when the Eagles won outright in Foxboro as 8-point underdogs. The Eagles are 7-6 all time against New England but 1-4 since Bill Belichick became coach in 2000.

Jerseys: New England, as the home team, gets first choice and elected to go with their road white tops. The Eagles will go with their signature midnight green. Each team had the same uniforms in Super Bowl XXIX.

Referee: Gene Steratore is the crew chief. He’s making his Super Bowl debut. The Eagles are 10-3 when he’s been the lead official, including five consecutiv­e wins dating to 2013, according to ProFootbal­l-Reference.com. New England is 12-5 in games when Steratore has been the referee.

Other officials: Roy Ellison (umpire), Jerry Bergman (down judge) and Byron Boston (line judge) will work closer to the line of scrimmage. Also calling the game is Tom Hill (field judge), Scott Edwards (side judge) and Perry Paganelli (back judge). Those last three guys generally will be watching for downfield infraction­s, such as pass interferen­ce.

Trophy: The winning team receives permanent possession of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, a sterling silver trophy created by Tiffany & Company and presented annually to the winner of the Super Bowl. The trophy was named after the late coach Vince Lombardi of the two-time Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers before the 1971 Super Bowl. The trophy is a regulation-size silver football mounted in a kicking position on a pyramidlik­e stand of three concave sides. The trophy stands 20¾ inches tall, weighs 6.7 pounds and is valued at more than $25,000. The words “Vince Lombardi” and “Super Bowl LII” are engraved on the base along with the NFL shield.

Attendance: To date, 3,947,121 have attended Super Bowl games. The largest crowd was 103,985 at the 14th Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
