Mary Lee Daniel, age 86, passed away March 13, 2018, surrounded by family, at Poet’s Walk Memory Care, in Henderson. She was born April 15, 1931, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Ruth and Alvis McBride, one of six children. She grew up in Bagdad, Arizona, where she graduated high school and met and married her beloved husband, Dick. They moved to Boulder City in 1953. She was a cook at the Boulder City Hospital for 19 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #36 in Boulder City. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling all over the country with Dick, stopping along the way at every fishing hole they could find. She later continued traveling with her best friend, Argerine, making many memories and friends along the way. Mary Lee was the most devoted mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r, bringing her bright smile to as many births, showers, marriages, graduation­s, reunions, holiday gatherings and concerts as she possibly could. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her children, Sharon Daniel, Ric Daniel (Melody) and Mark Daniel; her sister, Darnell Walker (Gene); her grandchild­ren, Tamara Dungan (Alex), Dawn Castellano (Jose), Billy Akres (Carla), Richard Whitney and Matthew Daniel; 14 great grandchild­ren; and countless nieces, nephews and “adopted” family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, of 61 years, Richard “Dick” Daniel; and her siblings, Ellis McBride, Joe McBride, Tommy Gene Honer and Bobby McBride. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Service will be at noon Thursday, March 22, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005, with burial following. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at alzfdn.org in Mary Lee’s honor.
