Rask, Bruins blank Lightning

TAMPA, Fla. — Tuukka Rask stopped 23 shots to hand Tampa Bay its first shutout of the season and lift the Boston Bruins over the Lightning 3-0 on Saturday.

The shutout was Rask’s third of the season and 41st of his career. It also was the first time the Lightning failed to score a goal since a 4-0 loss at Boston on April 4, 2017 — also against Rask.

David Pastrnak, David Backes and Riley Nash scored for Boston, which moved within two points of the Lightning for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with one game in hand. Torey Krug assisted on all three goals.

Andrei Vasilevski­y stopped 24 shots for the Lightning, who have lost consecutiv­e games for the first time since going 9-0-1 in the previous 10 games.

The Bruins played the final two periods without Backes, who left following a scary incident late in the first period.

■ Maple Leafs 4, Canadiens 0 — At Toronto, Curtis McElhinney had 33 saves in his third shutout of the season as Toronto extended its club-record home win streak to 12 games.

■ Wild 3, Coyotes 1 — At Glendale, Ariz., Marcus Foligno scored the tiebreakin­g goal midway through the third period, and Devan Dubnyk had 30 saves in his 200th career win.

■ Sharks 5, Canucks 3 — At Vancouver, British Columbia, Timo Meier scored twice for San Jose, which won its fourth straight and handed Vancouver its sixth loss in a row.

■ Blue Jackets 2, Senators1— At Columbus, Ohio, Markus Nutivaara scored the go-ahead goal in the second period for Columbus, which won its seventh in a row.

■ Flyers 4, Hurricanes 2 — At Raleigh, N.C., Valterri Filppula scored the tiebreakin­g goal with 5:49 left for Philadelph­ia, which scored four third-period goals.

■ Oilers 4, Panthers 2 — At Sunrise, Fla., Connor McDavid had a goal and two assists in the third period to back Cam Talbot, who had 40 saves.

■ Devils 3, Kings 0 — At Los Angeles, Keith Kincaid had 38 saves in his first shutout of the season as New Jersey won its third straight.

■ Blues 4, Rangers 3, OT— At St. Louis, Brayden Schenn scored 1:02 into overtime, and Alex Pietrangel­o had two goals for St. Louis.

■ Sabres 5, Blackhawks 3 — At Buffalo, N.Y., Nicholas Baptiste his second third-period goal with 1:56 left to break a 3-3 tie.
