SHANNON "SHANE" EMERICK

-

October 29, 1952March 17, 2018 Shannon W. “Shane” Emerick passed away peacefully March 17, 2018. Shane was born in Rantoul, Illinois, and grew up primarily in northern California and Iowa. Shane was in the military from 1970 to 1988. He received his undergraduate degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and served as a helicopter aviator and Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. After receiving a law degree from Arizona State University in 1991, he served as an attorney in the Clark County Public Defender’s Office for 20 years. Helping clients and their families brought him satisfaction. Shane met his wife, Laura Rehfeldt Emerick, while working at the Public Defender’s Office. They were married in 1997 at Lake Tahoe. Shane was an avid sports fan and a fierce competitor, whether it was playing little league baseball as a kid or participating in a scramble at a charity golf event in more recent years. He enjoyed playing most every sport and it was very fitting that he spent the last part of his legal career as Floyd Mayweather’s personal attorney. He thoroughly enjoyed that role and being part of Mayweather’s team. He had many other interests such as hiking, the National Parks and the beach, as well as music and theater. He loved animals and wildlife. He liked all dogs and was particularly fond of German Shepherds and Collies. Most of all, Shane will be remembered for his kindness, concern and thoughtfulness towards others. He loved being with all of us and is known for his stories that made us laugh so much they brought tears to our eyes. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Shane was born with Irish blood, his mother’s family being from Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day was his favorite holiday and he actually selected St. Patrick’s Day as his day to leave us. Somehow, but not surprisingly, with his determination he was able to pull this off. Shane will be lovingly remembered by many friends and family members, including his wife, Laura Rehfeldt Emerick of Las Vegas; and his sister, Christina Roberts of Scottsdale, Arizona. There will be a party at a later date for friends and family to celebrate Shane’s life.
