Jason David Eckert, passed away April 29, 2018, at Sunrise Hospital, the result of a bicycle accident, while on an outing with his wife and 8-year-old son. Jason was born September 20, 1973, in Las Vegas, and moved to Utah with his family at a young age. When he was 14, he moved back to Las Vegas to live with his grandmothe­r. He attended Chaparral High School, and later worked as a bus boy and cook at several Las Vegas restaurant­s. Before his death he was working as a production assistant and stage hand for private stage and party coordinato­rs around the valley. Jason was an organ donor and on the day of his death, he was able to give life to two people, with the donation of both kidneys. Jason was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his birth father, Joe Demele; adoptive father, David Eckert; and two brothers, Michael and Greg Eckert. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; son, Avaram; mother, Debbie Gagon; three brothers, Scott, Travis (Donna) and Nick (Jonah) Eckert; sister, Roxanne (Johnny) Stebbing; and grandparen­ts, Mabel (Ira) Ross, all of Las Vegas; grandparen­ts, Rhea (Merlin) Richens of Utah; fatherin-law, Robert Steffen of Las Vegas; five aunts; an uncle; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Celebratio­n of Jason’s life for family and friends will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Sand Creek Mobil Home Park Club House, 2627 S. Lamb Blvd., located off of Boulder Highwayy, between Vegas Valley and Sahara Ave., where Jason was living as caretaker of his grandparen­ts.
