STEVEN KENNELLEY

-

Steven Bradley Kennelley passed away April 8, 2018. He was born January 1, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John and Helen Kennelley. His early childhood was lived there, but he and his family moved to Las Vegas, where he lived most of his life. As an adult, Steve enjoyed a long, distinguished career in the Las Vegas casino industry in many different capacities. He was proud to be a part of “Old Vegas” and all that came with that era. He held positions of a dealer, pit boss and host at countless hotels, including the Riviera, the Flamingo, the Stardust and Harrah’s. Adored by his coworkers, they remember him as one with a great sense of humor and someone who always tried to make them laugh. He was a fantastic cook, especially spaghetti sauce and other Italian dishes. He enjoyed sports, especially golfing, the love of which was also passed down to his son and grandsons. Growing up in the heyday of Motown in the 50s and 60s, he especially loved listening to the music of Jackie Wilson, The Temptations and Sam Cook. Steven Bradley Kennelley was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish memories of him are his children, sons, Steven John (Christina) and Sean Kennelley; daughter, Jami Kennelley Burkin (Paul); and sisters, Judy Leavitt and Pati Stinnett. Known as “Papa” by his grandchildren, he loved them to the moon and back and always had a special interest in their activities even when he was out of state. Left to remember their special grandfather are Eirianne, Aidan and Carleigh Kennelley and Cruz and Camron Burkin. He also leaves behind his wife of many years, Kathie Kennelley; and his Des Moines, Iowa family, especially George Cataldo and family. There will be a celebration of life memorial gathering for him 1-5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Jami’s home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
