Damian Cayton Gonzales, of Henderson, passed away June 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 1, 1945, in Durango, Colorado, raised in Blanco, New Mexico, and moved his family to Henderson in 1969. Damian was preceded by his beloved daughter, Wanda Lee; his brother, Duane; and his parents, Lee and Esther Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Carmen Gonzales; and his seven children, Max Gonzales (Lorenda), Valerie Sandoval (Charlie), Juanita Gomez (Adolfo), Denette Sandrin (Olacyr), Damian Gonzales, Nicole Lopez (Steve) and Patricia Schneck (Jamie). A loving grandfathe­r of 28 grandchild­ren, Damian’s favorite word was “Grandpa.” He is also survived by his brother and sisters and their families, Karen Valdez, Robert Gonzales, and Norma Dominguez. Damian owned and operated Gonzales & Gonzales Concrete for many years, having his hand in many of the constructi­on projects here in Nevada. He loved to tell jokes and stories and to make people laugh. He was always inventing and building useful gadgets. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. We loved him and will miss him. “Dad, Grandpa, Damey rest with Jesus until we meet in heaven. We love you.” Visitation will begin at 12:45 p.m., Rosary at 1 p.m., and service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 6, all at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway. Reception following at 4 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
