Deborah Ann (nee Arbutina) Lewis, 62, passed away peacefully June 29, 2018, in Las Vegas, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born January 19, 1956, in Biloxi, Mississipp­i. Debbie was raised in many countries and states through the years until her parents arrived in Las Vegas. She married the love of her life, Michael Lewis, June 18, 1983, in Las Vegas. They traveled the world over their 35 years to many destinatio­ns while Michael was serving in the U.S. Air Force and, after retirement, they settled down in Las Vegas. Debbie graduated in 1993 with her bachelor degree in education from UNLV and began her teaching career that same year with the Clark County School District. She loved being a teacher and worked at many different schools in Las Vegas and Henderson. Debbie, a beloved daughter, sister, wife and aunt is survived by her parents, Lowell M. Arbutina and Joann M. Arbutina; sisters, Mary Arbutina and Michelle Hinkle; niece, Laura Arbutina; and her husband, of 35 years, Michael R. Lewis. Memorial service will be at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. The family will have a gathering immediatel­y following the service at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deborah’s name to The Caring Place, through Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation at nvccf.org
