■ Astros 7, Angels 0 — At Anaheim, Calif., George Springer hit a grand slam to back Justin Verlander (10-5), who struck out 11 over six shutout innings to halt a sixstart winless streak.

■ Tigers 5, Red Sox 0 — At Detroit, Jose Iglesias homered and totaled four RBIs to back Mike Fiers (7-6), who allowed seven hits and three walks over 6⅓ shutout innings.

■ Blue Jays 4, Orioles 1 — At Toronto, Marcus Stroman (3-7) held Baltimore to one run over seven innings, throwing a season-high 107 pitches, in Toronto’s sixth straight win over the Orioles.

■ Royals 4, Twins 2 — At Kansas City, Mo., Salvador Perez hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the first for Kansas City, which won a second consecutiv­e game for the first time since May 29 and 30.

■ Indians 16, Rangers 3 — At Arlington, Texas, Yonder Alonso hit a tworun homer and a solo shot to back Carlos Carrasco (12-5), who allowed two runs and struck out eight over 6⅔ innings.

■ White Sox 5, Mariners 0 — At Seattle, Avisail Garcia hit a three-run homer to back Dylan Covey (4-5), who took a nohitter into the sixth and ultimately allowed two hits over 8⅓ shutout innings.

National League

■ Cubs 7-3, Cardinals 2-6 — At Chicago, Matt Carpenter homered for the sixth straight game, and Paul DeJong hit a tiebreakin­g RBI double in St. Louis’ threerun ninth as the Cardinals gained a split. Ben Zobrist went 4-for-4 as Chicago won the opener.

■ Rockies 6, Diamondbac­ks 5 — At Phoenix, Tom Murphy hit a go-ahead, two-out pinch home run in the eighth for Colorado, which overcame a three-run deficit to win its seventh straight and move into second place in the NL West ahead of Arizona.

■ Pirates 6, Reds 2 — At Cincinnati, Corey Dickerson hit two first-pitch home runs to back Sierra Vista product Nick Kingham (5-4), who held Cincinnati to two runs over 6⅓ innings and drove in two runs in Pittsburgh’s eighth straight win.

■ Brewers 4, Dodgers 2 — At Milwaukee, Christian Yelich hit a tying home run in a three-run sixth off Clayton Kershaw (3-5), who allowed four runs over six innings, as Milwaukee halted a sevengame slide.

■ Marlins 3, Rays 2 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Cameron Maybin homered to back rookie Pablo Lopez (2-1), who held Tampa Bay to one run on three hits over six innings, as Miami won its fourth in a row.

■ Athletics 4, Giants 3 — At Oakland, Calif., Jonathan Lucroy had a walk-off RBI single in the 11th, Oakland’s third straight two-out hit. Hunter Pence had three hits and two RBIs for San Francisco.
