■ Royals 10-4, Yankees 5-5 — At New York, Greg Bird homered to open a tworun eighth for New York, which recovered after a shaky outing by newly acquired reliever Zach Britton to notch a split. Kansas City tagged All-Star Luis Severino (14-4) for six runs in 4⅓ innings in the opener.

■ Orioles 11, Rays 2 — At Baltimore, Bishop Gorman product Joey Rickard had a home run among his three hits and matched his career high with five RBIs, and Trey Mancini had a homer among his four hits on his bobblehead day.

■ Rangers 7, Astros 3 — At Houston, Rougned Odor went 5-for-5 with two home runs, including one inside the park, to back rookie Ariel Jurado (1-1), who allowed one run on two hits over six innings to beat Justin Verlander (10-6).

■ Red Sox 10, Twins 4 — At Boston, J.D. Martinez hit his majors-best 32nd home run, and Mookie Betts had two RBI doubles to raise his majors-best average to .346 in Boston’s 17th win in 21 games.
